This site has one signature moving graphic and a few gentle entrances. Every one of them can be paused, and if your device already asks for less movement, they stay paused until you say otherwise.

Movement can hurt
For people with vestibular conditions, migraine, epilepsy, or concussion recovery, movement on a screen can cause dizziness, nausea, or worse. That is not a preference; it is a health need.
Movement can distract
Animation pulls attention. If you are dyslexic, autistic, anxious, or simply reading something hard about your own child, a moving graphic can make the words harder to hold.
Movement should be a choice
Our animation carries meaning — a child moving to the head of the table — so we would rather explain it than force it. You decide whether it plays.

Your device setting comes first
If you have reduced motion turned on in your phone, tablet, or computer settings, this site starts with motion paused. Nothing moves until you ask it to.
Your choice is remembered
When you pause or play motion here, we remember it in this browser and apply it before the page draws, so there is no flash of movement on the next page.
Paused really means paused
With motion off, animations stop rather than run invisibly — no drifting graphics, no fading panels, no looping stars. Still images and captions carry the same meaning instead.
You can hand control back
“Reset to system” drops your choice here and follows your device again. If you change the device setting while the page is open, this site follows along straight away.
